Arsenal leading race to sign Pedro Neto from Wolves
Arsenal are ‘more likely’ to sign Pedro Neto over Manchester United but the Gunners face stiff competition from Tottenham for the Wolves winger, according to Ben Jacobs on GMS.
Given the frequency with which his name has appeared in rumor columns, it is almost certain that the Wolves winger will be on the move in the summer and Arsenal have been strongly linked.
Over the course of this season, the Portuguese international has demonstrated exceptional performances. In seventeen league appearances, he has assisted on nine goals and scored two. Due to his impressive statistics, skill, explosive speed, and remarkable technical ability, top teams are interested in his services.
Neto to Arsenal: The Obstacles
In a chat with Give Me Sport, Ben Jacobs was queried regarding the potential threat that Manchester United (who also eye the winger) could present to Arsenal’s pursuit of Neto. The journalist dismissed Manchester United’s chances, suggesting that Arsenal are a ‘more likely’ destination, but the Gunners will have to battle North London rivals for Neto’s signature.
Jacobs also warned that clubs like Arsenal may have to pay at least £70m to sign the winger as he’s under a long-term contract at Wolves and they will demand a club-record fee this summer.
Jacobs said:
“I think that Arsenal and Spurs are more likely destinations for Neto at this point. We know the Tottenham interest is historical, and I would expect Arsenal to consider Neto this summer as one of a few targets in that position.
“But both of the north London clubs will also be well aware that Wolves, because he is still well contracted, will be looking for a club-record sale.
“They will be very firm on price. You can understand why, in an inflated market where many attackers and midfielders have gone for in excess of £70 million.”
Mikel Arteta is without a doubt a fan of Pedro Neto. Dean Jones, not long ago, claimed Arsenal were convinced about him signing the Portuguese winger.
He would make an excellent deputy for Bukayo Saka on the right flank while he’s also capable of playing on the left meaning he’d also provide competition for Gabriel Martinelli.
Similar to Declan Rice, Neto has proven himself in the Premier League; he could be worth every million spent on him. If Arsenal could win the race for his signature, Neto would be an excellent addition to Arteta’s squad.
