Inter join Arsenal in transfer race for Dutch wonderkid Jorrel Hato
As per Tuttosport (via Football Transfers), Arsenal faces fresh competition for Ajax wonderkid Jorrel Hato with Inter Milan also interested in the defensive prodigy.
In the last few months, the young Ajax defender has excelled at the Johan Cruyff Arena. He has been an outstanding find for fans of the Dutch Eredivisie.
Though left-footed, those who’ve watched him have claimed that his playing style closely resembles Jurrien Timber’s. He demonstrates remarkable speed and agility, excels in passing, and always wants to play a key role in the team’s attacking play. A number of clubs have shown interest in him, but Arsenal have been interested for some time.
Ajax, on their part, are keen on retaining him, and in doing so, they are trying to sign him to a new deal. The new deal is set to be agreed upon, but it has been suggested that the best it could do is just help the Sons of the Gods avoid losing one of their promising prospects on the cheap.
Hato’s current deal was to expire in 2025 and he’s valued at around £19m by Transfermarkt but that valuation may increase if he’s tied to a new long-term contract.
Inter enters the race for Hato
Ahead of the anticipated negotiations with Ajax, Arsenal faces a new hurdle in securing a deal for Jorrel Hato. Inter Milan, the Italian powerhouse, aims to bolster their defense with a top-tier defender, and Hato is among their potential options.
Tuttosport reports that the Serie A league leaders are monitoring the young defender’s status at Ajax. If the conditions are right, they are ready to close the deal.
Inter’s desperate need for a defender might cause problems for Arsenal in the Hato chase. This might complicate their efforts to recruit the 17-year-old. However, similar to how they persuaded Timber to join, they should present the Ajax star and his entourage with a tempting preposition.
Next season hopefully as a Gunner, Hato’s versatility could make him a reliable option for Arteta’s project not only at central defense but also at left back.
If Arsenal manages to sign him, along with the defensive talent already at the club, Arteta’s defense will be unrivaled in the upcoming seasons.
