Arsenal interested in signing Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi, as per The Telegraph.
After moving to Selhurst Park back in 2021, the 23-year-old has established himself as a key player in the Eagles’ starting eleven over the last few years.
The Englishman’s eye-catching performances in the Premier League have attracted the attention of several big English clubs with the Gunners among those to have registered their interest.
According to the report by The Telegraph, Arsenal are interested in signing Guehi and they could make a concrete approach to acquire his service during the off-season.
The report further claims that Crystal Palace could demand a fee of more than £50m to sell their star man so Arsenal will have to splash a big fee to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.
The Telegraph also states that Crystal Palace have already started to explore the market to sign a new defender so this suggests they are starting to realise they could be forced to cash-in on Guehi ahead of next season.
Guehi to Arsenal
However, the report says that purchasing Guehi won’t be straightforward for Arsenal as Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also plotting a swoop for him.
Arsenal have struggled with injury problems at their back this season as new summer signing Jurrien Timber has been ruled out for almost the entirety of this season after sustaining a serious knee problem in his Premier League debut.
In addition, Takehiro Tomiyasu has also been struggling with injury problems in recent times. So, it appears Arsenal are planning to reinforce their backline by signing a new defender this summer.
Guehi is quick, strong, comfortable playing out from the back, excellent in defensive contributions and also reads the game well. The defender is a talented player and could be a shrewd option to reinforce the backline if Arsenal purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to purchase Guehi in the upcoming transfer window.
Meanwhile, after returning from the winter break, Arsenal have been displaying impressive performances in recent times. They are currently third in the table with 61 points from 27 games, sitting only two points behind the league leaders Liverpool. So, the Gunners are currently firmly in the race to lift the league title this season.
