Hammers want Smith Rowe, Arsenal may let him go
Emile Smith Rowe could join West Ham this summer, according to journalist Seb Ecrivain. The French journalist simply echoes what Give Me Sport said the other day.
Well, the Gunners’ decision-makers may be concerned that the midfielder will never re-discover his brilliance at the club. Due to injuries, the 23-year-old has struggled to establish a consistent role in the current Arsenal side. A series of issues have meant Smith Rowe has missed 78 games for the club recently.
One could argue that over the last two seasons, he has spent more time on the bench than on the pitch. Some say that if he was given a regular role in the team, he could bloom, but that appears unlikely.
Smith Rowe to West Ham
According to Seb Ecrivain, West Ham wants Smith Rowe, and Arsenal are willing to let him leave. All the Gunners ask is that they receive a suitable offer to sanction the deal. Keen to rescue his career, the Arsenal No. 10 is thought to be tempted to leave with hope he could play more. Ecrivain said,
“West Ham is interested in the situation of Emile Smith Rowe. The 23-year-old will not be retained by Arsenal in the event of a good offer this summer. He is tempted by the playing time that the Hammers could give him.”
Back in October 2023, Teamtalk reported that West Ham were interested in signing Smith Rowe in the winter. According to the report, Arsenal were only interested in allowing the 23-year-old to leave for a £60 million fee.
West Ham, probably scared of the player’s asking price, never attempted to clinch the deal in January. However, they could do so in the summer for a reasonable fee, raising the question of how much Arsenal would be willing to accept for that exit.
Anyway, Smith Rowe’s exit will make way for Arsenal to make the widely anticipated top midfielder swoop.
