Joshua Kimmich open to joining Arsenal this summer
Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich is reportedly open to joining Arsenal in the upcoming transfer window, as per the German journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The 29-year-old is set to enter the final year of his current contract at the end of this season and hasn’t signed a new contract with the Bavarian club yet.
So, speculation surrounding his future has started to grow ahead of the summer window and it has previously been reported that the Gunners have expressed their interest in signing the midfielder by taking advantage of his current situation.
Now, writing on X, Plettenberg has reported that Bayern Munich are ready to cash-in on Kimmich this summer and the player is open to taking a new challenge in his career.
The journalist further claims that Kimmich is ready to join Arsenal during the off-season and the Gunners may have already contacted the player’s representatives before making a potential swoop.
Kimmich to Arsenal
However, Plettenberg states that not only Arsenal, Kimmich would be open to joining Manchester City, Liverpool, Real Madrid or Barcelona this summer and some of those clubs have already held talks with the midfielder’s entourage over this deal. So, the North London club are set to face stiff competition from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for him.
The journalist also says that Kimmich doesn’t want to join Manchester United, Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain – who have also been linked with a move for him – if he leaves Bayern Munich at the end of this campaign.
Plettenberg wrote:
“News Kimmich: FC Bayern are indeed prepared to sell Kimmich this summer if a suitable offer comes in. Additionally, JK is not ruling out a move, and he is open to discussions with potential buyers! Still no concrete talks about a new contract beyond 2025.
“Only five top clubs are in consideration for Kimmich: Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Some of the mentioned five clubs have already contacted Kimmich! A move to Manchester United, Chelsea, and Paris is not an option for him.”
Arsenal have reportedly been exploring the market to sign a new midfielder as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey – who has struggled with fitness problems in recent years.
Kimmich – valued at around £64m by Transfermarkt – is a top-class player and has already showcased his qualities at the highest level over the last few campaigns. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they eventually manage to acquire his service in the upcoming transfer window.
