Arsenal ‘most likely’ to sign Alexander Isak this summer
Arsenal are reportedly ‘most likely’ to sign Newcastle United star Alexander Isak this summer, as per the transfer insider Dean Jones.
It has widely been reported that the Gunners are set to prioritise strengthening their frontline by signing a prolific goal-scorer in the upcoming window.
Numerous strikers have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent times with Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen being among them. However, it has recently been reported that Mikel Arteta wants to sign a versatile forward over a natural centre-forward to bolster the attack so Toney and Osimhen aren’t the priority options for Arsenal.
Viktor Gyokeres has emerged as a serious option in recent times but Isak is seemingly on their radar as well. Now, writing on GiveMeSport, Jones has reported that with Newcastle unlikely to be able to qualify for the Champions League next season, the Magpies could be forced to sell some of their star man as they would want to play in this tournament and Isak could be one of them.
The journalist further claims that Arsenal are interested in signing the Swedish international and they are ‘most likely’ to secure his signature if he leaves St James’ Park ahead of next season.
Isak to Arsenal
Jones also states that Newcastle don’t want to cash-in on him but if they are forced to sell then they could demand a fee of around £80m. So, Arsenal will have to splash a huge fee to lure the forward to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
After joining the Magpies from Real Sociedad ahead of last season, the 24-year-old enjoyed a promising debut campaign in the Premier League last term. The forward has continued his impressive performancen this season as well, scoring 12 goals in 20 league appearances.
Isak is a versatile forward as he is a centre-forward by traits but can also be deployed on the flanks. He is quick, strong, good in the air, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas and also can finish off his chances.
So, Isak could be an excellent option for Arsenal to reinforce their frontline if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to secure his signature in the upcoming transfer window.
