Arsenal keen on signing Barcelona star Raphinha this summer
Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Barcelona star Raphinha in the upcoming transfer window, as per the Daily Mail.
After displaying his qualities during his time at Leeds United, the Brazilian attracted a lot of attention from several big clubs around Europe with Arsenal and Chelsea among those expressed their interest in him, however, the forward eventually opted to sign for the Catalan giants back in 2022.
Upon moving to the Camp Nou, the 27-year-old helped his side win the league title last term, but he has struggled to find regular game time this season. However, it seems despite the South American’s mixed time in La Liga, Arsenal remain an admirer of the forward.
According to the report by the Daily Mail(via Mundo Deportivo), Arsenal are keen on signing Raphinha and they could make a concrete approach to acquire his service in the upcoming transfer window.
However, the report states that Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in signing him so the Gunners are set to face fierce competition from their arch-rivals in getting any potential deal done for him.
Raphinha to Arsenal
The former Leeds United star – valued at around £43m by Transfermarkt – still has more than three years left in his current contract so Barcelona are in a strong position to demand a big fee to let their star man leave the club. The Catalan giants purchased the forward in a £51m deal and it is expected that Barcelona would demand at least that much to sell him.
Raphinha is a highly talented player and could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal if they purchase him. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, is efficient in taking set-pieces, can deliver excellent crosses from the wide areas and also works extremely hard without possession.
With Arsenal reportedly willing to purchase a new winger to support Bukayo Saka, Raphinha would be an excellent option should they sign him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to acquire the Barcelona star’s service in the upcoming transfer window to reinforce their attacking department.
