Arsenal eye swoop for Real Sociedad’s Robin Le Normand
According to Fichajes, Arsenal are in a battle to sign Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his backline in the summer.
To sustain their progression, the Gunners must continue to add quality to their squad. Taking advantage of what the transfer market has to offer, such as adding top stars like La Liga defender Le Normand, is the only way Arteta’s project can stay ahead of the competition.
Over the last few seasons, Le Normand has established himself as one of the best defenders in La Liga and his performances have caught the eye of Arsenal scouts.
Fichajes claims that Arsenal are showing a keen interest in the Sociedad man, but face competition from Premier League rivals Aston Villa as well as Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid.
The report suggests that a deal could be done at around £34m, which seems like a reasonable fee in todays market, so it’s no wonder so many clubs are interested in the 27-year-old.
Le Normand, a wanted man
Arsenal’s defence has been at its best this season, with some arguing that it has been their most consistent department. However, one thing is certain: it is short on manpower, and this was evident in the weeks preceding the international break.
Due to injuries, in that period Mikel Arteta relied on a back four consisting of Jakub Kiwior, Gabriel, William Saliba, and Ben White in games. If they suffered any more knocks, Arteta would have faced difficulties putting out a senior defence. In the summer, an additional defensive option, particularly a central defender, would be a wise investment.
It looks like Le Normand is on Arsenal’s radar and he’d be a solid addition to Arteta’s squad if they could win the race for his signature. Those who’ve watched him have praised his technical brilliance, exceptional passing range, and visionary abilities, which could potentially set him apart at the Emirates Stadium. In addition, Le Normand is dominant in the air and has an astute understanding of the game.
Arsenal’s defence has been excellent this season, conceding the fewest goals in the Premier League (24), but with a superb signing like Le Normand, the Gunners would be even stronger next year with added depth in the squad.
