Arsenal interested in signing AC Milan star Ismael Bennacer
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing AC Milan star Ismael Bennacer this summer, as per the Italian outlet Calciomercato.
It has widely been suggested that the Gunners will look to reinforce their engine room by purchasing a new midfielder ahead of next season. Numerous names have been mentioned as serious targets for the North London club with Douglas Luiz, Amadou Onana and Martin Zubimendi being among them, but Bennacer is now emerging as a new key option.
According to the report by Calciomercato, Arsenal have expressed their interest in signing the Algerian and they could make a concrete approach to acquire his service during the off-season.
The report further claims that Milan could cash-in on their star man if they receive an lucrative proposal and could accept a fee of around £43m. So, the Gunners will have to splash a sizable amount of money to lure the African to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
However, Calciomercato states that Saudi Arabian clubs are also keen on signing Bennacer and an ‘important offer’ could come from there so Mikel Arteta’s side are set to face tough competition in getting any potential deal done for the 26-year-old.
Bennacer to Arsenal
The midfielder is a talented player and can play multiple positions across the middle of the park. He is technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, has the efficiency of dribbling past opposition defenders in tight areas, has an eye for long-range passing and also works hard without possession.
So, with Arsenal reportedly looking to purchase a new midfielder to replace Thomas Partey – who has been struggling with injury problems in recent times, Bennacer could be a shrewd signing if the Emirates club purchase him.
However, Bennacer has struggled with injury problems this season and as a result, he hasn’t been able to play regularly for the Rossoneri. Therefore, Arteta’s side need to be careful about that before making any potential move for him.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign Bennacer in the upcoming window to reinforce their midfield department.
