According to Teamtalk, Arsenal are eyeing a move to sign Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville this summer but face competition from Chelsea.

Currently, all eyes may be on how Arsenal navigates this close title battle, where they must outwit not only Manchester City but also Liverpool. However, behind-the-scenes plans to strengthen the team in the summer with talent to ensure its progression are underway.

The Gunners are reportedly considering a swoop for a new winger, and Teamtalk are citing a report from Goal who claims Summerville has emerged as a target.

The 22-year-old’s renaissance in the Championship, which many believe will lead to Leeds’ Premier League promotion, justifies the Gunners’ interest. So far this season, Summerville has an impressive 17 goals and nine assists and that form has caught the attention of clubs in the top flight.

Arsenal are looking for the ideal backup for Bukayo Saka as they want to ease his workload, and the Leeds player could be a good fit, but given his versatility — he operates on both wings — he could also serve as Gabriel Martinelli’s deputy.

Chelsea also wants Summerville

Leeds are reportedly keen on pocketing £26 million for Summerville, as per the report. However, while Arsenal may see no issue in meeting the wingers’ asking price, Teamtalk says they will face stiff competition from Chelsea.

In the end, it may come down to which team the championship winger wishes to join. However, with Arsenal expected to play in the Champions League and the levels they have achieved in recent seasons, they should have the edge over their rivals. Chelsea are unlikely to qualify for European football next season, let alone the Champions League.

Summerville, who has already played in the Premier League and had a feel for it last season, could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal. Arteta may only need to recruit a top striker after his swoop, securing Arsenal’s attack for years to come.
