Arsenal want to sign Barcelona prodigy Mikayil Faye
Arsenal are interested in signing Barcelona defender Mikayil Faye this summer but face competition from European clubs, according to Calciomercato.
Whether Arsenal win the Premier League or not, Mikel Arteta is eager to bolster his squad and add some much needed depth so the Gunners can compete on all fronts over the coming years.
Arsenal’s most consistent department this season has been their defense; William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes have been nothing short of incredible. The Gunners have conceded the fewest goals (24) and kept the most clean sheets (13) in the league. Lest we forget, in their last two games, they have broken Manchester City and Luton’s goal-scoring streaks.
It is obvious most Arsenal fans are satisfied with their defense and hope Saliba and Gabriel marshal it for the next decade. However, unexpected injuries can occur, necessitating a team to have numerous backup plans in place.
Faye to Arsenal
Arteta needs to sign more dependable options for his defense, and Mikayil Faye could be a terrific addition. CalcioMercato says Arsenal are interested in signing the exciting defender.
Although the Senegalese has yet to make a senior appearance for Barcelona (only making the bench), he has impressed for Barcelona B. Arsenal may see the 19-year-old as an ideal addition to their defense after watching him impress with the junior Barcelona side.
The teenager’s contract with Barcelona expires in 2027, and he has a whopping £343 million release clause. However, CalcioMercato says interested clubs such as Arsenal could get a deal agreed at around £17m due to Barcelona’s financial issues.
Faye is nicknamed “the monster” due to his physical strength and he’s expected to have a big future ahead of him. It’s no surprise then that Arsenal face competition for his signature with the report says the likes of Inter Milan, Chelsea, Dortmund, and Juventus are also keen.
