Arsenal receive boost to sign Shakhtar Donetsk star Sudakov
Arsenal have received a huge boost in pursuit of Georgiy Sudakov as Shakhtar Donetsk are ready to cash-in on their star man this summer, as per the transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.
It has widely been suggested that the Gunners are set to remain busy in the upcoming transfer window to bolster the squad and continue performing at their best next season. Reinforcing the centre-forward position is reportedly Mikel Arteta’s primary objective, but signing a new midfielder is on his agenda as well.
Numerous midfielders have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium ahead of the summer window with Douglas Luiz, Amadou Onana and Martin Zubimendi being among them, but Sudakov has also emerged as a key option.
Bailey has reported on HITC that Arsenal are interested in the Ukrainian and could make a concrete approach to acquire his service. The journalist further claims that Shakhar could be open to cashing-in on the midfielder this summer and he has a release clause of more than £100m.
Bailey also states that having sold Mykhailo Mudryk for a huge fee last year, Shakhtar are likely to demand big money for Sudakov as well so Arsenal will have to break the bank to lure the youngster to the Emirates Stadium during the off-season.
Sudakov to Arsenal
However, the journalist states that Arsenal won’t get a clear pathway to sign Sudakov as Liverpool, Manchester City, Aston Villa and in addition, Chelsea, Newcastle, West Ham and several other European giants are also plotting a swoop for him.
The 21-year-old is a versatile player as he can play in the box-to-box role as well as in the attacking midfield position. He is technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, has an eye for long-range passing, can create chances for forward players and also can finish off his chances.
Sudakov is a highly talented player and is deemed one of the best young players in Europe. So, signing a player of his qualities would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club can eventually manage to acquire his service to reinforce their engine room this summer.
