In their search for a top midfielder, Arsenal are considering a shock move for Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo, according to Tutto Juve.

There are whispers circulating that the Gunners are actively seeking a midfielder to play alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard. Several players have been linked with Melo is emerging as a surprise target.

Melo was a target for Arsenal during the winter transfer window of 2022, but unfortunately, the deal did not materialize. Reports indicated that the Gunners and Juventus failed to reach a consensus on the terms and financial aspects of the deal.

The Athletic claimed Arsenal were presented the chance to sign the Juventus midfielder in the summer of 2022. However, they revealed that the Gunners ultimately declined the offer, and Liverpool ended up securing his services on loan for the 2022–23 season.

Melo’s struggles with injury hindered his ability to truly demonstrate his potential at Liverpool. Unfortunately, he only managed to make a single appearance for the Reds before making his way back to Juve last summer.

Fiorentina decided to sign him in on loan for the 2023–24 season. The Serie A side has not regretted that move, as the former Barcelona man has proven to be invaluable for them. He has appeared in almost every single one of their league games, missing only three.

Fortunately for the Brazilian, his performances this season have caught the attention of Arsenal once again, as per Tutto Juve. West Ham are also named as potential suitors for the South American.

Mello for £17m

Juventus, aware of the interest from Arsenal and West Ham, are open to cashing-in if £17m is put on the table, according to the report.

Notably, Fiorentina would have loved to sign him, but financial constraints reportedly prevent them from making his deal permanent.

Given the 27-year-old’s struggles in the Premier League during his time with Liverpool, it will be intriguing to see if Arsenal are willing to invest £17m to sign Melo this summer.

Perhaps Arsenal would prefer an initial loan move, with an option to buy next summer if things work out, but it looks like Juventus are keen to do a permanent deal at the end of the season.
