Brobbey names Arsenal among clubs he’d like to join in the summer
During an interview with Soccer News, Brian Brobbey may have just sent Arsenal a come-and-get-me plea after naming them as one of the clubs he’d like to join this summer.
Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign a top young striker in the summer. Football London recently alluded to this in one of their updates about the Gunners’ plans for the summer.
The source listed Ajax’s 22-year-old striker, Brian Brobbey, as one of the attackers the Gunners may potentially sign as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his strike-force at the end of the season.
Brobbey eyes Arsenal move
Interestingly, Brobbey has now named the Gunners as one of the ‘big clubs’ he’d like to join this summer as he aims to take the next step in his career.
The Dutchman also named Manchester United and Real Madrid among the clubs he’d be open to joining, but any deal won’t come cheap as the striker suggests his price-tag will be around £69m [€80m].
He said,
“I think I am doing quite well. I still want to achieve many great things in my career, such as playing for a very big football club.
“Real Madrid is a beautiful club. Arsenal, Manchester United… How much am I worth? After the European Championships, €80 million. Going to the European Championships is also a dream of mine.”
Brobbey is certainly positioning himself for a major move this summer. His stats suggest he could get it, as this season, even though Ajax have struggled, he’s stood out with 19 goals and 7 assists in 33 appearances.
He may be a tempting transfer option, but his alleged £69 million price tag will be a concern for Arsenal as they are unlikely to pay such an amount for a player that’s relatively unproven outside of Holland.
Arteta is also reportedly in the market for a winger, central midfielder and left-back, so the Gunners will have to be careful not to spend too much on a striker and leave enough left in the kitty to strengthen other areas of the squad.
