Arsenal remain keen on signing Danilo from Forest
According to HITC, Arsenal remain interested in Brazilian midfielder Danilo but will have to compete with a number of Premier League clubs for his signature.
Danilo was one of the South American talents linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the months leading up to the winter transfer window of 2023. The then-Palmeiras midfielder’s performance had piqued Arsenal’s interest, and reports suggested they were considering signing him.
However, before they could submit an offer to bring him to Europe, Nottingham Forest beat them to the transfer after agreeing an £18 million deal with Palmeiras.
Danilo is a wanted man
For the last 15 months, Danilo has proven to be of Premier League quality, standing out in a Forest team that has struggled to find consistency. The 22-year-old’s performances have impressed several top flight team, including Arsenal.
The Gunners, as per HITC, have rekindled their interest and could look to sign the Brazilian in the summer. However, they’ll face stiff competition as the report says Manchester United, Tottenham, and Newcastle are also keen on midfielder’s signature.
Danilo’s former team mate at Palmeiras, Dudu, has backed the midfielder to secure a move to a top club after dubbing the Brazilian as ‘the complete player’. Dudu is quoted as saying by HITC:
“I always tell him, ‘you have to play at Manchester United (or) at Arsenal,”
“(He can make it) at those clubs. But you have to be calm. You have to have your head in place. He’s a player who marks, who arrives in the attack, who builds play for the offensive midfielders, who helps in defending.
“For me, he is the complete player.”
As the race for the City Ground favourite heats up, HITC further notes that Arsenal are prioritising a new midfielder this summer, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them formalise their interest in Danilo.
They have extensively scouted him during his time in Brazil and now here in the Premier League, so they will know how to get the best out of him.
With Thomas Partey and Jorginho tipped to leave this summer, Arsenal need at least one midfielder and £24m– rated Danilo could be a terrific addition if the Gunners win the race for his signature.
