Arsenal target Alexander Isak exit links have Newcastle star worried
Newcastle defender Dan Burn, speaking on Sky Sports News as quoted by the Metro, has admitted Alexander Isak has the quality to play for a ‘top team’ amid speculation linking him with Arsenal.
Widespread reports suggest that Mikel Arteta is looking to sign a top striker in the summer transfer window. Several names have been linked with a move to Arsenal but Isak is emerging as a serious target.
According to reports, Newcastle need a major sale this summer to balance their books and comply with the FFP and the Premier League’s PSR. As a result, Isak has been linked with a move away from St James’ Park with Arsenal showing a keen interest.
Isak transfer recommendation
Recent weeks have seen a resurgence of Arsenal’s transfer links to Isak. According to The Sun, Arsenal are willing to pay £100 million for the Swedish hitman, hoping that would be enough to tempt the Toons into a deal.
Teammate Dan Burn has now admitted that Isak has what it takes to play for a ‘top, top team’ but the defender hopes Newcastle are able to keep hold of him beyond the summer.
When asked about rumours linking Isak with a move, Burn said:
“Yeah, ideally, I’d love to keep him!
“I think Alex has been brilliant. He did score a few goals when he first came, and it took him a while to build relationships with teammates and get used to the way that we want to play and what’s expected of him.
“But he’s got everything, Alex. He’s got that real quality, and he could go on to play for top, top teams.
“I think it is important that we keep hold of our best players, and Alex is definitely one of them.”
Isak has forged a reputation as one of the most exciting attackers in the league this season so it’s no wonder clubs like Arsenal are being linked with a move ahead of the summer.
The 24-year-old would give the Gunners a focal point up front, but he’s not only a great finisher, Isak is also hard working and a great link-up player so he’d be an excellent addition to Arteta’s squad.
However, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will be able to persuade Newcastle to cash-in on their No.14 this summer.
