Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko this summer, as per the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

After joining the Gunners from Chelsea last summer, Kai Havertz initially took time to settle down in his new surroundings. However, after Mikel Arteta decided to deploy the German as the false nine, he has flourished in his career in the second half of this season, scoring 12 goals and registering seven assists in 36 league appearances.

Havertz has stood out amid Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah’s disappointing campaign this season. So, it has been suggested that the North London club could opt to cash-in on Jesus or Nketiah to make room to sign a prolific goal-scorer ahead of next season.

A plethora of strikers have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last few weeks with Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen and Joshua Zirkzee being among them, but Sesko is reportedly on their radar as well.

Writing on Caught Offside, Romano has reported that Arsenal appreciate Sesko so they could make a concrete approach to sign him this summer. However, the journalist claims that the Gunners haven’t opened any official talks over this deal yet

Sesko to Arsenal

Romano also states that apart from Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak are also on Arsenal’s wish-list so it remains to be seen who the Emirates club eventually opt to sign to reinforce their frontline.

The journalist further says that Chelsea are also interested in signing Sesko so Arteta’s side are set to face tough competition from their city rivals in getting any potential deal done for him.

Romano wrote:

“Sesko is appreciated by Arsenal but it’s the same for Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak, for example, so I’m not sure we’re at the moment yet to be talking about any one of these specific targets advancing to anything more concrete.

“I’ve also mentioned Chelsea’s interest in Sesko before, but as I wrote here recently, I think we have to be patient on Sesko – the time for decisions is not now, on both club and player side. It’s one to discuss probably next month, but nothing is decided or clear right now.”

It has been suggested that Arsenal might have to splash a fee of around £64m to sign Sesko this summer. So, the 6ft 5in striker won’t be a cheap option for the Emirates club.

Sesko is a talented player and possesses the potential to become a top-class striker in future. So, he could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they purchase him this summer.
