Agent wants Joshua Zirkzee to join Arsenal
Kia Joorabchian, the agent of Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee, wants the striker to join Arsenal this summer following talks with Edu, as per the Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.
It has widely been suggested that the Gunners are set to prioritise strengthening their frontline by signing a new prolific goal-scorer in the upcoming window.
Numerous names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last few weeks with Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen being among them, but Zirkzee is on their radar as well.
According to the report by Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal are interested in signing Zirkzee and they could be able to purchase the 22-year-old thanks to Edu Gasper’s excellent relationship with the player’s agent Kia Joorabchian.
The report claims that Arsenal’s Director has held talks with Joorabchian and the agent is keen for Zirkzee to move to the Emirates Stadium this summer. The Gunners are prepared to offer a four-year deal worth around £115-per-week. That works out at around £6m-per-year, which is a huge increase on his current £1m-per-year deal at Bologna.
Zirkzee to Arsenal
Zirkzee has attracted the attention of several big clubs around Europe following a promising campaign this term, helping his side qualify for the Champions League by finishing in the top-four.
The striker, standing at 6ft 3in tall, is technically sound and likes to come deep to link-up the play. He is more of a false nine type of striker than an old-fashioned number nine.
It has been suggested that Bologna could be open to cashing-in on their star man if they receive an offer of around £68m. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will meet that valuation but Corriere dello Sport suggests that Zirkzee is expected to leave this summer and the Gunners are a real possibility.
Zirkzee is a talented player and possesses high potential, so he could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they eventually manage to secure his signature in the upcoming transfer window.
Meanwhile, despite enjoying a stellar campaign this term, Arsenal are currently at risk of finishing the season trophy-less. They are currently second in the Premier League table and can only win the title if they win their game against Everton on the final day and Manchester City slip up versus West Ham United.
