Victor Osimhen open to joining Arsenal this summer
Napoli ace Victor Osimhen is reportedly open to joining Arsenal in the upcoming transfer window, as per the Italian journalist Valter De Maggio.
After moving to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona from LOSC Lille back in 2020, the Nigerian has already showcased his qualities in the Italian top-flight over the last few years, helping the Azzurri win the Scudetto last term.
Having proven his worth in Serie A, Osimhen is reportedly keen on leaving Napoli to take the next challenge in his career. With Arsenal exploring the market to sign a new striker, the Napoli star has been mentioned as a serious target.
Now, speaking on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli(via Calcio Napoli 24), De Maggio has reported that Osimhen is willing to move to the Premier League and would be open to joining Arsenal if they make a concrete approach.
It has been suggested that Osimhen has a £113m release clause included in his current contract and the clause can be triggered this summer. However, the journalist says that it is highly unlikely that any of the clubs can afford to spend that much money to sign the striker.
Osimhen to Arsenal
So, De Maggio claims that if Osimhen can’t manage to engineer a move to his preferred destination then he would be ready to move to Saudi Arabia ahead of next season.
De Maggio said:
“Osimhen wants the Premier League, if the offer didn’t arrive then he would consider the Arab one. There is no club that pays the clause today, Osimhen would like Arsenal otherwise he would consider Saudi Arabia.”
Osimhen has already proven his worth at the highest level and is currently deemed one of the best strikers in the world. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him.
However, the Nigerian has struggled with injury problems over the last few years so the Gunners should be careful about that before spending big money to sign him.
Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to sign Osimhen in the upcoming transfer window to reinforce their attacking department.
