Arsenal hold talks to sign Man Utd ace Marcus Rashford
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has reportedly held initial talks with Manchester United star Marcus Rashford over a potential deal to sign him this summer, as per a recent report.
Having enjoyed a career-best campaign in the 2022/23 season, the 26-year-old struggled to replicate the same performance in the recently concluded season. However, despite his struggle, he ended up winning the FA Cup.
Following a disappointing season this term, Rashford has come under fire and it has been suggested that the Red Devils are ready to listen to offers for the majority of their stars, excluding some young talents like Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund.
So, it seems Arsenal are planning to make a swoop to sign a player of Rashford’s qualities by taking advantage of his current situation. Now, according to a recent report(via Football London), the Gunners are planning to sign a new versatile forward – who can play anywhere across the frontline – and have identified Rashford as a serious option.
The report further claims that Arteta has already held initial talks with the forward to persuade him to join the club and the Englishman has expressed his desire to move to the Emirates Stadium. However, the report raises concern as to whether Man Utd will eventually let their star man leave.
Rashford to Arsenal
Following Rashford’s struggles this season, he has failed to secure his place in the England squad for the upcoming European Championship. However, having already revived Kai Havertz’s career after purchasing the German from Chelsea for a big fee, Arteta might be backing himself to do the same with Rashford.
The England international likes to play through the left flank and considering Gabriel Martinelli couldn’t manage to showcase his best during the business end of the recently concluded season, signing a new option to reinforce that position could be a shrewd decision.
Rashford is a big game player and has the tendency to score goals against top opposition. So, adding a player of his qualities to a team that have been fighting for the titles in recent years would be great.
However, Man Utd are likely to demand a big fee to let their star man leave and in addition, Rashford’s salary is also expected to be enormous as he already earns £325,000-per/week. So, Arsenal will have to splash a huge fee to lure the 26-year-old to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
