Arsenal ready to spend big to sign Bologna ace Zirkzee
Arsenal are reportedly ready to spend big to sign Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee this summer, as per the Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.
Having enjoyed a stellar campaign for the Rossoblu this term, helping his side qualify for the Champions League next season, the Dutchman has been attracting a lot of attention from several big clubs around Europe.
While citing and translating the print version of Corriere dello Sport, Sport Witness has reported that AC Milan are keen on signing him and additionally, Juventus are also interested in him.
However, the report states that Arsenal are going to provide stiff competition for the Italian clubs in this race. It has been reported that Zirkzee has a £34m release clause in his current contract and the clause is valid for any club with Milan ready to trigger it to secure his signature.
However, the Italian outlet claims that Zirkzee’s agent Kia Joorabchian is demanding a fee of around £13m in commission to get this deal done but Milan aren’t willing to spend that much.
Zirkzee to Arsenal
But, the report says that Arsenal have ‘no problem paying’ the money to purchase Zirkzee this summer with the player willing to move to the Premier League.
Following underwhelming displays from Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah this season, the Gunners have reportedly prioritised signing a new prolific goal-scorer this summer.
Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen have all been mentioned as serious targets for the North London club with Zirkzee on their radar as well.
The 23-year-old, standing at 6ft 4in tall, is a technically gifted player and is efficient in linking-up the play. He isn’t a traditional centre-forward as he likes to drop deep and get involved in the build-up play.
Zirkzee possesses the necessary attributes to play in Mikel Arteta’s system so he could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, the Bologna star isn’t the most prolific goal-scorer so the North London club might be better off exploring other options to strengthen their attacking department.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign Zirkzee in the upcoming transfer window.
