Arsenal are reportedly ready to spend big to sign Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres this summer, as per The Sun.

The Gunners are said to be prioritising signing a new striker ahead of next season following disappointing displays from Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah last term.

Arsenal are reportedly open to cashing-in on one of them and have been linked with numerous names in recent weeks. Benjamin Sesko, Joshua Zirkzee and Victor Osimhen have all been mentioned as serious targets.

However, while Sesko has decided to stay at RB Leipzig by signing a new deal, AC Milan are reportedly leading the race to sign Zirkzee. Osimhen, on the other hand, is likely to cost huge so Arsenal are seemingly looking to sign Gyokeres this summer.

According to the report by The Sun, Arsenal are willing to spend a fee of around £50m-£60m to sign the Swedish international, however, Sporting want more than that figure to let their star man leave.

Gyokeres to Arsenal

The report further claims that although the Lions are ready to sell a few of their star men, they aren’t willing to sell Gyokeres but rather Ousmane Diomande and Goncalo Inacio are on the transfer list.

It has been reported that Arsenal are interested in signing Diomande, while they scouted Inacio closely last season. But, it is not clear yet whether the North London club will make a move to sign any one of them this summer.

After moving to Jose Alvalade Stadium from Coventry City last summer, Gyokeres enjoyed a stellar campaign last term, helping his side win the league title. So, it appears after being impressed by his displays last season, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing him.

The Sporting star is a top-class player and is currently at the right stage of his career to take the next step so he could be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, it appears Ruben Amorim’s side are desperate to keep hold of him, therefore, it will be extremely difficult for Arsenal to get this deal done. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club can eventually manage to secure his signature in the upcoming transfer window to reinforce their attacking department.
