Arsenal will reportedly ‘make an attempt’ to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen ‘in the next few days’, as per the Italian journalist Ciro Venerato.

Having joined the Azzurri from LOSC Lille, the Nigerian has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Serie A over the last few years, helping his side win the Scudetto last year.

After showcasing his qualities in the Italian top-flight, Osimhen is said to be keen on leaving the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium to take a new challenge in his career.

Venerato reports(via Area Napoli) that Arsenal are willing to sign a new striker this summer and initially, wanted to purchase Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. However, following Sosko’s decision to remain at Leipzig, Arsenal are now willing to shift their focus on signing Osimhen.

Venerato further claims that the North London club will ‘make an attempt’ to purchase Osimhen ‘in the next few days’ but they will only push forward with this deal if a deal can be done for a ‘lower sum’.

Osimhen to Arsenal

The African reportedly has a £101m release clause in his current contract and the journalist states that Napoli would be able to get the money from Arab or Paris Saint-Germain, but the forward is favouring a move to the Premier League. So, Napoli will have to compromise to help Osimhen make his dream move.

The Napoli ace is an excellent striker and possesses the necessary qualities to flourish in the Premier League. Additionally, he looks like a determined character and signing players like him would help the Gunners take the next step.

However, Osimhen has had several injury problems in recent years and Arsenal wouldn’t want to spend big to sign an injury-prone player so they will have to be very careful about that before making any potential move for him.

Nevertheless, if the striker can overcome his fitness problems then he is one of the best forwards in the world and it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to push forward with a deal to sign him this summer.
