Arsenal leading the race to sign Johan Bakayoko

By on June 26, 2024

Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign PSV Eindhoven star Johan Bakayoko this summer, as per the Belgian outlet dhnet.be.

The Gunners have been exploring the market to sign a new right-winger and have been linked with numerous names. Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Pedro Neto were previously mentioned as serious targets, however, Nico Williams has recently been suggested as a key option for them, but Bakayoko is now emerging as the primary target.

The Belgian has been attracting a lot of attention from several big clubs around Europe following a promising campaign in Eredivisie last term. Liverpool have been suggested as a potential suitor for him, but Arsenal are now seemingly eyeing a swoop for him as well.

According to the report by dhnet.be, Arsenal are keen on signing the winger and are ready to spend big for him. The report further claims that the Gunners are currently leading the race to purchase the Belgian international and talks progressing over this deal.

It has been reported that PSV are ready to let their star man leave should they receive an offer between £34m-£42m so Arsenal will have to splash a sizable amount of money to sign him.

Bakayoko to Arsenal

It initially looked like Arsenal were keen on reinforcing their frontline by signing a new centre-forward this summer. Benjamin Sesko was reportedly their primary option, however, the forward has decided to remain at the Bundesliga side.

So, it has recently been reported that after failing to sign their primary striker target, Arsenal could opt to sign a different type of forward than signing a new striker.

Therefore, The North London club might now be looking to sign a new right-winger to support Bukayo Saka next season. Bakayoko is a talented player and is quick, technically sound, can create chances for fellow attackers and also has the efficiency of scoring goals so he could be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Mikel Arteta’s side eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in this transfer window to reinforce their attacking department.
