Arsenal are reportedly ‘pushing’ hard to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze this summer, as per the journalist Simon Phillips.

After narrowly missing out on winning the title last term, the Gunners are said to be keen on strengthening their squad ahead of next season to challenge on all fronts next season.

Mikel Arteta’s side are reportedly prioritising signing a new centre-forward and midfielder but purchasing a new defender is on their wish-list as well. However, it seems they are looking to sign a new attacking midfielder as well.

Phillips reports that Arsenal are showing ‘serious interest’ in signing Eze and they could make a concrete approach over the coming weeks. The journalist further claims that Liverpool and Chelsea have also expressed their interest in him, but the Gunners are ‘pushing’ more than other clubs to get any potential deal done for him.

Additionally, Phillips states that Eze has a £60m release clause in his current contract so although Crystal Palace don’t want to let him leave, they might be forced to cash-in if his release clause is activated by his potential suitors over the coming weeks.

Eze to Arsenal

The journalist also adds that Arsenal might not have the financial resources to sign him after strengthening other areas of the squad so they are ready to cash-in on Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson to raise funds to sign Eze.

Eze can play multiple positions in the middle of the park and additionally, he can also be deployed in the left-wing position. He is technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has the efficiency of finishing off his chances, can create opportunities for fellow attackers and is also excellent in taking set-pieces.

The Englishman is a highly talented player and possesses the necessary qualities to play in Arteta’s system so he would be a shrewd signing for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to secure the winger’s signature in this transfer window to add depth to their squad.
