Arsenal pushing to sign Adrien Rabiot this summer
Arsenal are reportedly pushing to sign Juventus star Adrien Rabiot this summer, as per the Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.
The North London club’s plan to sign a new midfielder is already well-known and it has even been reported that they are looking for a new player in the engine room as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey.
Mikel Arteta is said to be willing to let the Ghanaian leave after getting frustrated with his consistent injury problems. The African was out injured for the majority of last season and managed to return to action during the business end.
Arteta seemingly wants to sign a natural replacement for Partey as the Gunners have been linked with a few defensive midfielders over the last few weeks with Martin Zubimendi, Bruno Guimaraes and Joao Neves being among them. However, it looks like Arsenal are also exploring box-to-box midfield options.
Rabiot to Arsenal
While citing and translating the print version of Corriere dello Sport, Sport Witness has reported that Rabiot is likely to leave Juventus at the end of this month as a free agent as he hasn’t signed an extension yet.
The report further claims that Arsenal are interested in signing him by taking advantage of his current contract and have already started pushing hard to secure his signature.
However, Corriere dello Sport states that Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are also keen on signing him so the North London club will have to overcome stiff competition from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for him.
Rabiot is reportedly valued at around £42m in the current market so purchasing a player like him for free would be a shrewd signing for Arsenal should they purchase him.
However, the Frenchman is likely to demand a big financial package to move to the Emirates Stadium and considering he is already 29, it remains to be seen whether Arteta’s side eventually decide to sign him by giving him a big contract.
Rabiot is currently busy playing in the European Championship with France so it doesn’t look likely that Arsenal would be able to secure his signature before the end of the tournament.
