Arsenal submit offer to sign Real Madrid star Andriy Lunin
Arsenal have reportedly submitted an offer to sign Real Madrid star Andriy Lunin this summer, as per the Spanish outlet AS.
The Ukrainian’s future is currently uncertain at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu as despite entering the final year of his current deal, he hasn’t decided to sign an extension yet.
The Spanish outlet states that Real Madrid have offered the goalkeeper a new deal but he hasn’t decided to commit his future yet as he wants the first-team role but amid Thibaut Courtois’ presence, he is unlikely to get that.
The report says that the player’s representatives are pushing him to move away from Real Madrid and the Spanish giants are currently waiting to see what Lunin eventually decide to do.
AS claims that Arsenal are interested in signing the Ukrainian and have already sent him a proposal to persuade him to join the club. But, he hasn’t made his mind up yet and is set to return to pre-season training with Real Madrid.
Lunin to Arsenal
Arsenal could be looking to sign a new goalkeeper this summer to deputise David Raya next season. Although Aaron Ramsdale is still in their ranks, it has been reported that he could move away to play regularly.
Real Madrid reportedly want a fee of around £30m to sell Lunin but spending that much money for a backup goalkeeper might not be the best decision for the North London club.
In addition, the Real Madrid star is seeking a first-team spot but Arsenal wouldn’t be able to offer him that as Mikel Arteta’s preferred option is Raya – whose loan move has been made permanent this summer.
Nevertheless, Lunin is a talented player and hasn’t reached his peak yet, therefore, he could be a good acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to secure his signature if he leaves Los Merengues in this transfer window.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Arsenal are also contemplating signing a new midfielder and striker this summer, while they are closing in on a deal to purchase Riccardo Calafiori to bolster the backline.
