Arsenal remain interested in signing Wolves star Pedro Neto
Arsenal reportedly remain interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto this summer, as per the Football Transfers journalist Steve Kay.
The Gunners have been linked with several wingers over the last few transfer windows as Mikel Arteta is believed to be willing to purchase one to support Bukayo Saka.
Raphinha, Neto and Nico Williams have all been suggested as serious targets for the North London club but they haven’t opted to sign anyone yet.
Neto is seemingly a concrete option as he always gets linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. However, considering his recent fitness problems, it was thought that Arteta’s side wouldn’t want to make a swoop for him.
However, speaking on KS1 TV, Kay has said that Arsenal remain keen on signing the Portuguese as Arteta is a huge fan of him. The journalist further claims that the North London club have been monitoring the forward’s injury history before making any potential move.
Neto to Arsenal
Kay also states that Neto was valued at around £80m last summer but his price has now halved so he could be available for a fee of around £40m in this transfer window.
He said:
“There’s always been a lot of noise about Pedro Neto and Arsenal. Arteta is a massive fan of him and he loves Pedro Neto. But there’s a massive problem with his injuries. I know that Arsenal were looking at his injury data with a fine tooth comb to figure out if they want to make a bid or not.
“I’m 85% sure this guy will move on. You’re talking £40m now, it was £80m last year, his price has halved. For me this is the guy, look at the price, what we know about him, he’s Premier League proven, he’s the guy.
“This is one I wouldn’t put as totally dead. I know they’re still talking at Arsenal and they’re looking at his injury record. I like Neto, and I think there’s still a possibility of this to come. It’s quiet, sometimes you get a feeling in the transfer game, and it doesn’t feel like it’s a bad quiet.”
Neto is a Premier League proven player and could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, his injury problems may eventually force Arteta’s side to explore alternative options to reinforce the frontline.
