Arsenal have reportedly held talks over a deal to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto this summer, as per TEAMtalk.

The Gunners are seemingly contemplating signing a new winger in this transfer window to reinforce the flanks as they have been linked with a few names in recent weeks.

Nico Williams has been reported as a serious target but the Portuguese is on their radar as well. The 24-year-old enjoyed a promising campaign last term, scoring twice and registering nine assists in 20 Premier League appearances.

Arsenal hold a long-term interest in Neto as they always get linked with the Wolves star whenever the transfer window opens. But, they haven’t made a concrete approach to sign him yet and it remains to be seen whether things will be different this time around or not.

According to the report by TEAMtalk, Arsenal have already held talks with the player’s representatives over a move and the forward has made it clear that he is prioritising a move to the Emirates Stadium.

So, the report says that although Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing him, Arteta’s side are in pole position in this race as they can offer him Champions League football.

TEAMtalk further claims that Arsenal feel Neto would be a great acquisition but they will have to splash a fee of around £50m to secure his signature so, he won’t be a cheap option for them.

Neto is a versatile forward as he can play on either flank but can also provide cover in the centre-forward position if needed. He is quick, strong, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has the ability to create opportunities for fellow attackers and also works extremely hard without possession.

Although Neto is an excellent player and has already showcased his abilities in the Premier League, he has been struggling with injury problems in recent years.

So, spending a big fee to sign him would be a huge gamble. Therefore, I think Arsenal would be better off exploring other options to strengthen the attacking department this summer.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to purchase him in this transfer window.
