Arsenal are reportedly set to open talks over a deal to sign Galatasaray star Baris Alper Yilmaz this summer, as per the Turkish outlet Sabah.

The transfer window has already been in full flow but the Gunners have been relatively quiet as their only business so far is making David Raya’s loan move permanent.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side have been working to sign Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna to bolster the left side of defence and are now closing in on a deal to secure his signature.

It has been reported that the Spanish boss wants to add reinforcements in several other positions as well before the end of this window.

Midfield and the centre-forward are the two areas that Arsenal are reportedly keen on strengthening, however, purchasing a new winger is also on Arteta’s agenda.

Several wide attackers have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last few weeks with Nico Williams, Pedro Neto and Eberechi Eze being among them.

Yilmaz to Arsenal

However, according to the report by Sabah, Arsenal are also interested in Yilmaz and they will hold talks with the player’s representatives soon before making a potential swoop this summer.

The report further claims that Galatasaray could decide to cash-in on their assets for a fee of around £26m so Arsenal can manage to secure his signature for a reasonable fee.

However, the Turkish outlet states that Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Brighton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa are also plotting a swoop for him and additionally, Borussia Dortmund have expressed their interest in him as well.

The 24-year-old is comfortable playing in the right-wing position as well as the left-wing role but can also provide cover in the centre-forward position if needed.

Following an impressive campaign with Galatasaray last season, guiding his side to win the league title, Yilmaz enjoyed a stellar European Championship with Turkiye, helping his country reach the quarter-final.

Yilmaz is a talented player and would add depth to the Gunners’ attack should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to secure his signature in this transfer window.
