Arsenal considering signing Santiago Giménez this summer
Arsenal are reportedly considering signing Feyenoord star Santiago Giménez this summer, as per the Mexican outlet Fox Sports.
The Gunners usually wrap up their transfer businesses early, but things look different this time as they haven’t made a new significant signing this summer yet. After making David Raya’s loan move permanent, the North London club have purchased Tommy Setford from Ajax but he is unlikely to feature for the senior team next season.
However, it looks like Arsenal have started to step up their efforts to bolster the squad as they are closing in on a deal to sign Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna and the player is now set to undergo medical after Mikel Arteta’s side agreed on a deal in principle with the Italian club.
So, after reinforcing their backline, Arsenal are reportedly planning to sign a new midfielder but adding a new number nine is said to be on Arteta’s agenda as well.
A plethora of strikers have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last few weeks with Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres being among them.
Giménez to Arsenal
However, according to the report by Fox Sports, Arsenal are interested in signing Giménez and they could formalise their interest soon.
The report further claims that the player’s agent and father will travel to Europe to talk with the North London club over this deal, therefore, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arteta’s side eventually secure his signature this summer.
However, Fox Sports states that Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, RB Leipzig, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are also keen on signing him and the player’s entourage will hold talks with those clubs as well.
It has previously been reported that Feyenoord want a fee of around £84m to sell their star man so it is highly unlikely that Arsenal will push forward with a deal to sign him should the Eredivisie giants stay firm on their inflated valuation.
Giménez is a highly talented player and has already showcased his qualities in the Dutch top-flight. So, he could be a shrewd signing for the Emirates club if they eventually manage to secure his signature in this transfer window.
