Arsenal interested in signing Morgan Gibbs-White
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White this summer, as per the transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.
After moving to City Ground from Wolverhampton Wanderers, the 24-year-old has established himself as a talismanic figure for the Reds in recent years.
After helping his side survive relegation a couple of seasons ago, he did the same last term, scoring five goals and registering 10 assists in 37 Premier League appearances.
So, it looks like having been impressed by the midfielder’s recent development, the North London club have registered their interest in signing him ahead of next season.
Reporting on HITC, Bailey has stated that Arsenal have expressed their intentions of signing him and could make a concrete approach before the end of this window.
Gibbs-White to Arsenal
The journalist says Nottingham Forest have no intention of letting their star man leave but they will change their stance should they receive an offer of more than £50m.
However, Bailey says Arsenal aren’t the only club contemplating signing him as Newcastle United, Chelsea and Aston Villa are also plotting a swoop for him.
Gibbs-White is a dynamic attacking midfielder. He is technically sound, can create chances for the attackers, has the ability to finish off his chances and also works extremely hard without possession.
The 24-year-old is a talented player and possesses high potential so he would be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him.
However, Arsenal are seemingly more focused on signing a new box-to-box midfielder than a number ten with Mikel Merino emerging as the primary target.
Additionally, Mikel Arteta’s side want a new prolific goal-scorer to reinforce their frontline. So, it doesn’t seem like Arsenal are prioritising strengthening the number ten, especially given they already have Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira.
Therefore, it is unlikely that Arsenal will eventually look to formalise their interest in signing Gibbs-White in this transfer window.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will kick off their new Premier League campaign against the Wolves in two weeks time and following that, they’ll travel to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa. Arteta will be desperate to start the season on a high note to mount yet another title charge.
