Arsenal ready to spend big to sign Julian Alvarez
Arsenal are reportedly ready to spend big to sign Manchester City star Julian Alvarez this summer, as per Football Transfers.
After making David Raya’s loan move permanent, the Gunners have purchased Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna to strengthen the defence. Additionally, Mikel Arteta wants a new midfielder with Mikel Merino seemingly the primary target as the Emirates club are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign him.
However, it has widely been reported that the North London club also want a new striker before the end of this window and numerous names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last few weeks.
Now, according to the report by Football Transfers, Arsenal have identified Alvarez as a key target and they are ready to match Man City’s £70m price tag to secure his signature.
The report further claims that the Citizens will hold talks with the Argentinian’s representatives over his future with the player wanting to leave the club to play regularly.
Alvarez to Arsenal
Man City reportedly don’t want to let a top-class player like the South American join a direct rival like Arsenal so it will be extremely difficult for Arteta’s side to get the deal done.
Football Transfers states that Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid are also keen on signing him and they have already enquired about the details of signing him this summer.
Arsenal reportedly need to sell one of their striker options to make room for the new signing having already got Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. Nketiah has been heavily linked with a move away from the club so it seems the Gunners have decided to let him leave the club.
Alvarez showcased his qualities for Man City last term, scoring 19 goals and registering 13 assists in 54 appearances in all competitions. However, he was mainly used as a second fiddle to Erling Haaland and didn’t get the start in many of the big games, so he is said to be unsettled at the Etihad Stadium.
With Arsenal looking to sign a new prolific striker, Alvarez could be an excellent acquisition if they can eventually manage to secure his signature in this transfer window.
