PSG Offering More For Julian Alvarez
The transfer market is heating up as the PSG is anxiously inside a bidding ear for Manchester City’s FIFA World Cup-winning striker Julain Alvarez.
After Kylian MBappe’s exit to Real Madrid, PSG and those with PSG tickets were anxiously scrolling the transfer market for a prospective striker replacement, and it looks like they found one at Manchester City.
After Julian Alvarawz refused to sign a contract extension with Manchester City and opted to be open to transfers, PSG saw a perfect opportunity for a new striker.
But it wasn’t as easy as the Parisian club claimed. Currently, the club is in a bidding war for the Argentine striker.
PSG Make Offer
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has reportedly formally offered Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez a formal offer. The Argentine player is also a target for Atletico Madrid, who is preparing a €60 million bid.
Alvarez’s limited playing time at Man City, where he is second choice behind Erling Haaland, has led to speculation about his future. The striker has previously mentioned considering his options, although he recently downplayed rumors linking him to Arsenal and Chelsea.
While PSG has an offer in place, Atletico Madrid also had an initial offer for Alvarez, feeling that he would be an ideal fit for Diego Simone’s Madrid outfit. But, the speculation turned towards the PSG side when they entered the race, and now, fans with PSG tickets think that a higher bounty can help them get Alvarez.
According to Gaston Edul, PSG’s bid is expected to exceed Atletico Madrid’s planned offer. However, despite PSG’s potentially more lucrative contract terms, Alvarez reportedly prefers a move to Madrid over Paris.
In a recent press conference, city manager Pep Guardiola addressed questions about Alvarez’s future. He emphasized the importance of rest for players, stating: “Julian deserves now to take his time; what he needs is to come back clean. Not just in the legs – the people say it’s the legs – it is especially stuff [in the mind].”
The transfer saga continues to develop, with Alvarez’s future at Manchester City remaining uncertain. The striker’s performance and potential make him an attractive prospect for top European clubs, but his preference for Atletico Madrid could decide his next move.
PSG Joins Race for Euro Winner
Paris Saint-Germain was linked to various center-backs this summer, including Leny Yoro and Dean Huijsen. However, these links didn’t materialize into a transfer. Still, the reigning Ligue 1 champions are keen on veteran Aymeric Laporte.
Nonetheless, the Parisians could pursue a veteran center-back to bolster their defense for next season rather than going for a young defender who has yet to reach their potential.
Enrique coached Laporte during his time as Spain’s national team manager, so there’s already an understanding. The 30-year-old spent last season playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, but after being part of Spain’s UEFA Euro 2024-winning squad, it’s no surprise there are European suitors.
Before leaving for Saudi Arabia, Laporte spent time with Athletic Club from 2012 to 2018 and then moved to Manchester City, where he played from 2018 to 2023. Once his time with the Premier League was over, the defender went to Al-Nassr.
But Luis Enrique can negotiate a deal for Laporte to make a return to PSG. His playing style with Spain impressed the world during the Euros and indicated that he still has what it takes to play at the highest level.
With those with PSG tickets looking for a comeback year and to settle for life after Mbappe, this feels like a good addition.
Nico Willaims is not coming to PSG.
Thomas Andreu has reported through SPORT that even though Nico Williams has turned down an offer from Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona still hopes to sign him this summer.
It is no secret that Nico’s future is still undecided as the Athletic forward has not publicly spoken about his next career move, but his options have significantly narrowed.
It must be noted that PSG manager Luis Enrique wanted to sign him, and he communicated this to the Parisian club’s sporting management, who then moved quickly to sign the Spanish international.
PSG have been unsuccessful in persuading Nico Williams.
Despite their efforts, though, PSG’s attempts have been unsuccessful. Luis Campos, PSG’s presidential sports advisor, had other market alternatives and needed a response from Nico to plan the Parisian project accordingly.
Officially, PSG has known for a few days that the star winger will not leave his team to join the French club. The striker declined the Parisian offer once, just as he had recently decided against moving from La Liga to the Premier League.
Interestingly, Nico’s refusal to join PSG does not mean he is ruling out a transfer this summer or confirming his stay at Athletic Club for another season.
The Barça sports department believes there is still a chance to sign the 22-year-old. Deco and his team are confident there is still an opportunity to secure Nico’s signature. The club works tirelessly to gather the necessary financial resources to make significant transfers.
Another star at the Euros and Lamine Yamal, Nico Willaims, has been the center of attraction with his skill levels and playing style at a very young age. It is inevitable that PSF also had their eyes on him. Unfortunately, for fans with PSG tickets, he might not be able to make it to France.
It is important to note that Nico has remained silent throughout this period. Despite Athletic’s repeated statements about wanting to keep their star player, he has previously wanted to switch teams and join Hansi Flick’s project.
The exact timing of Nico’s decision to end the speculation about his future is still unknown, but for now, one thing is certain: he will not be joining PSG.
Barcelona will take a final call on key signing after the US pre-season tour. If it happens, a combination between Yamal and Nico will be a gamechanger at Barcelona.
PSG tickets for the new season go on sale soon.
