Spurs Looking for Superstar Signing
Tottenham is yet to do something with the Harry Kane transfer money as the fans with Tottenham tickets are looking for the big news of their star signing.
And it looks like the Spurs are in a race to win Victor Osimhein.
Tottenham joins Oismhein Race
Tottenham Hotspur are set to challenge Chelsea in the race to sign Napoli’s prolific striker Victor Osimhen. The club seeks to fill the void occasioned by Harry Kane’s departure.
The North London club has been monitoring the 25-year-old Nigeria international, and Football Insider revealed that Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is desperate to sign a new striker this summer.
Osimhen, who joined Napoli in 2020 for a record €77.5m, has been a standout performer in Serie A, particularly during the 2022–23 season. However, the striker is reportedly looking to move on from the Italian giants, presenting an opportunity for Premier League clubs.
Osimhein has been incredible with Napoli and spearheaded the club’s title win in the Serie A.
Chelsea have already engaged in aggressive negotiations with Napoli, discussing a possible cash-plus-player deal involving Romelu Lukaku. In response, Tottenham are considering including players of their own to secure Osimhen’s signature.
Osimhen’s arrival at Tottenham would be a statement of intent, bringing much-needed clinical output and potentially becoming the face of a new era at the club for years to come.
It would also make those with Tottenham tickets ecstatic.
The striker previously shunned lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League, with his preference for a Premier League move well documented. As the transfer saga unfolds, Tottenham and Chelsea will be keen to secure the services of one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers.
Yves Bissouma in Trouble of Getting Dropped?
Yves Bissouma watched from the substitutes’ bench for the second game in a row as Tottenham wrapped up their pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea. Following victories over Vissel Kobe and Team K League, Spurs tasted defeat this time as Bayern Munich secured a 2-1 victory at Seoul World Cup Stadium.
Following that entertaining game against Team K League, Ange Postecoglou made three changes to his starting XI: Radu Dragusin, Djed Spence, and James Maddison came into the side.
Maddison joined Archie Gray and Pape Matar Sarr in midfield, with Postecoglou keeping faith with his new signing in the No.6 role.
Initially starting pre-season at center-back due to the lack of options at the heart of the defense, Gray has pushed upfield and into his natural role in the middle of the park in the past two games.
His place in midfield has come at the expense of Bissouma, who has instead had to contend with minutes from the bench.
The Mali international has been an undroppable part of the Tottenham team ever since Postecoglou arrived at the club ahead of the 2023/24 season, starting in 26 of the 28 Premier League games when he was available. Outstanding in the first few months of last term, Bissouma’s performances did start to tail off from November onwards, but he still maintained his place in the starting XI even when he wasn’t at the top of his game. That may be different from August onwards, however.
The Mali international appears to have real competition for his place in the team from Gray, who has already more than demonstrated in his first few Tottenham appearances that he can be a big player for the Lilywhites over the coming years.
Putting in a good display in his first outing in midfield against Team K League, the 18-year-old was given more of a challenge on Saturday, coming up against Joshua Kimmich and Co. in the Bayern Munich fixture.
Feeling the impact of the South Korean heat and also a training schedule where Postecoglou and his coaching staff have pushed the players since they arrived in Asia, Gray, who was even spotted trying to catch his breath at one point in the first half, did struggle in the middle of the park as Bayern controlled proceedings.
The Durham-born ace attempted to get Spurs moving but unfortunately played a couple of loose balls, with one sparking a Bayern attack that resulted in Son Heung-min clearing the ball at the back post as Gabriel Vidovic waited to convert.
An undoubted step up in quality for Tottenham, Gray was not the only Spurs player who struggled to impact the game as he would have liked. Bissouma entered the fray in place of Gray at the start of the second half, with Tottenham much better in the closing stages of the contest as youngsters such as Alfie Devine and Lucas Bergvall came on and influenced the play.
Who Postecoglou decides to start in the No.6 role could hint at who will play there against Leicester City in the team’s opening fixture.
It’s a start for Gray, and we may see the youngster make an immediate Premier League debut rather than Postecoglou easing him in.
Regardless of who starts or not, Bissouma does now appear to have a real challenge on his hands for the No.6 role, and his previous undroppable tag is certainly not guaranteed, especially if Rodrigo Bentancur is considered for the role as well and rediscovers his old form.
The fans with Tottenham tickets think this could go either way: It would help Bissouma level up his game and showcase that he is the right #6, or eventually, the place would be given to the youngster.
Although we may not have had that last season, it could be something that brings out the very best in Bissouma across the 2024/25 campaign. Postecoglou will be hoping that is the case as he builds for a brighter future in north London.
In other news, the Spurs desperately try to find an exit move for the Brazilian striker but need suitors. It feels like no club wants Richarlison on their side, making life challenging for the manager to look for new options.
Richarlison’s career at Spurs is over – it is only a matter of time before he comes to terms with it.
Tottenham Tickets for the Premier League are now available on sale.
