Arsenal face battle from Liverpool to sign Joan Garcia
With Aaron Ramsdale’s future currently uncertain at Arsenal, the Gunners are looking to sign a new shot-stopper before the deadline.
Following David Raya’s arrival, the former Sheffield United star has found himself on the periphery so he is said to be looking to leave the club to play regularly elsewhere.
Ajax Amsterdam previously expressed their interest in signing him, while Wolverhampton Wanderers have also registered their interest in recent times.
Arsenal have identified Garcia as the primary target to potentially replace Ramsdale and they have reportedly already agreed on personal terms with him.
However, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo now states that purchasing the Espanyol star could become complicated for Mikel Arteta’s side as Liverpool have also joined the race to secure his signature.

The report further claims that Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the 23-year-old’s current situation before making any potential swoop for him ahead of next week’s deadline.
It was previously reported that the goalkeeper has a £21m release clause in his current contract but the Spanish outlet states that Garcia’s exit clause value has now increased and it is currently £25.5m.
Garcia is a talented player and possesses high potential so he would be an excellent option to deputise Raya if they purchase him. He is a 6ft 3in tall goalkeeper and is comfortable playing out from the back. Additionally, the 23-year-old is an excellent shot-stopper and efficient in the air.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have been continuing negotiations with Real Sociedad over the deal to sign Mikel Merino after purchasing Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.
On the other hand, the North London club are now close to selling Eddie Nketiah to Nottingham Forest and that could open the pathway to sign a new striker late in this window.
Therefore, it is going to be interesting to see how the rest of the transfer market eventually unfolds for the Emirates club over the coming days.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have started the new season with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz were on the scoresheet last weekend and that will give them confidence.
