Confirmed line-ups: Arsenal vs Brighton – Trossard starts for Gunners
Arsenal will look to maintain their perfect start to the new season when we take on Brighton at the Emirates Stadium today [12.30pm kick-off].
After securing back-to-back victories against Wolves and Aston Villa in our opening two games, we can open up a three point lead at the top of the table with another win and put the pressure on Man City ahead of their trip to West Ham later this evening.
Mikel Arteta made a late move in the transfer market last night after securing a loan deal for Raheem Sterling from Chelsea. The attacker wasn’t registered in time to be eligible today so he’ll have to wait to make his Arsenal debut.
Arteta also confirmed a major injury blow at his press conference yesterday after revealing that summer signing Mikel Merino suffered a suspected fractured shoulder in his very first training sessions with the club following his move from Real Sociedad.
The Arsenal boss has made a change from the starting eleven that beat Aston Villa last time out. Leandro Trossard is rewarded for his match winning impact off the bench last week as he comes in for Gabriel Martinelli on the left wing.
Bukayo Saka keeps his place on the right with Kai Havertz continuing to lead the line up front in the absence of Gabriel Jesus – who remains out with a groin injury.
Youngster Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand is on the bench today along with Ethan Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly. Tommy Setford is the back-up goalkeeper as Neto wasn’t registered in time.
Here are the line-ups:
Arsenal
Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Partey, Rice, Ødegaard, Saka, Trossard, Havertz.
Subs: Setford, Kiwior, Calafiori, Zinchenko, Lewis-Skelly, Jorginho, Salah, Nwaneri, Martinelli.
Brighton
Verbruggen; Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk, Hinshelwood; Milner, Baleba; Minteh, Pedro, Mitoma; Welbeck
Subs: Steele, Lamptey, Igor, Julio, Webster, Enciso, Rutter, Adingra, Ayari, Estupinan.
