Arsenal receive boost to sign Leipzig ace Benjamin Sesko
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has given positive news to Arsenal regarding the availability of their key target RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko.
The Gunners were reportedly keen on signing a new prolific goal-scorer in the recently concluded summer window. Numerous names were linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium with Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen and Alexander Isak being among them.
However, it was reported that Sesko was Mikel Arteta’s primary option but following the Slovenian’s decision to remain at Red Bull Arena, the North London club eventually opted not to a new sign centre-forward before the deadline.
Now, writing in the Daily Briefing, Romano has reported that there could be several top strikers become available next year with Sesko likely to be among them. So, Arsenal could now finally manage to secure his signature and strengthen the number nine position.
He said:
“While there’s also the possibility of other top strikers like Benjamin Sesko being on the market next summer.”
It has been reported that Sesko has a £55m release clause in his current contract and considering he still has five years left in his current contract having recently signed an extension, Leipzig are in no rush to sell their star man for cheap.
Sesko to Arsenal
Sesko burst onto the scene after displaying impressive performances for Red Bull Salzburg and Leipzig – who are the sister club of the Austrian club – eventually secured his signature last summer.
The 21-year-old showcased his qualities in the German top-flight last term, scoring 14 goals and registering two assists in 17 league starts. So, it seems having been impressed by his displays last campaign, the Gunners opted to register their interest in signing him this summer.
The youngster is quick, strong, can finish off his chances, has an eye for scoring goals and distance and also works hard without possession. Sesko is deemed one of the most talented strikers in the world so he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him.
However, having failed to secure his signature this summer, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club decide to make a concrete approach to sign him if he eventually leaves the Red Bull Arena next year.
