Arsenal plot swoop to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo
Arsenal are reportedly considering making a move to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo next year, as per Football Insider.
The Gunners have reportedly been looking to sign a new right-winger over the last few years to support Bukayo Saka. They have been linked with numerous names with Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Nico Williams being among them.
The North London club signed Raheem Sterling from Chelsea late in the summer transfer window but he joined the club on a loan deal and is expected to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of this season.
So, it looks like Arsenal could look to sign a new right-winger next summer and Football Insider states that they have now identified Mbeumo as a key option.
The forward will enter the final year of his current contract next summer and Brentford are prepared to let him leave the club for a fee of more than £40m if he doesn’t extend his deal over the coming months.
Mbeumo to Arsenal
However, the report says Liverpool and Aston Villa have also entered the race to sign the Cameroonian with Nottingham Forest making a move to secure his signature this summer.
The 25-year-old is a left-footed right-winger so he would be an ideal option for Arsenal to support Saka if he were to join the club.
The forward has showcased that he can perform at the highest level and has already had a brilliant start to this season, scoring three goals in three Premier League games.
So, he would certainly strengthen the North London club’s attacking department if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to secure his signature should he leave Gtech Community Stadium at the end of this season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will resume their Premier League campaign following the international break when they face off against Tottenham Hotspur away from home this Sunday.
After that, they will commence the Champions League campaign against Atalanta before taking on Manchester City at Etihad Stadium in the Premier League. So, a tough and busy run of fixtures lies ahead for Arsenal.
