Arsenal are reportedly considering making a ‘sensational’ swap deal to sign Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram next year, as per the Italian outlet Inter Live.

The Gunners were said to be keen on signing a new striker in the recently concluded summer window but they eventually didn’t make a concrete approach to sign anyone before the deadline.

However, the North London club opted to sell Eddie Nketiah to Crystal Palace late in the window so Arsenal have now seemingly started exploring the market to sign a new centre-forward to replace the academy graduate.

Inter Live states that Arsenal are planning to make a swoop to sign Thuram as Mikel Arteta ‘dreams’ of bolstering the attacking department by signing him next year.

The Gunners are even willing to offer Gabriel Jesus in a part-exchange deal to purchase the Frenchman. The two attackers have a similar valuation so a straight swap can happen or Arsenal could offer a substantial amount of money plus the Brazilian to sign Thuram.

Thuram to Arsenal

After leaving Borussia Monchengladbach, the 27-year-old joined the Nerazzurri as a free agent last summer and upon moving to the Giuseppe Meazza, he enjoyed a stellar debut campaign in Serie A last term, helping his side win the Scudetto.

Moreover, the Frenchman has started the new season impressively as he has already scored four goals and registered two assists in three league appearances.

Thuram is a versatile forward as he is comfortable playing out wide as well as in the number nine role. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, is efficient in linking-up the play and can also create opportunities for fellow attackers.

The striker has already showcased his qualities in the Italian top-flight and he could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to formalise their interest in signing him next year.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are set to face a few tough fixtures after the international break as the Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City games will come in quick succession.

However, they have a few injury scares at the moment as Martin Odegaard has picked up an issue while playing for Norway, while Riccardo Calafiori also sustained a problem during his international duty.

Moreover, Declan Rice was shown a red card last game against Brighton and Hove Albion and as a result, he won’t be available for selection versus Spurs this weekend.
