Arsenal plotting audacious swoop to sign Leroy Sane

By on September 13, 2024

Arsenal are reportedly considering making an audacious swoop to sign Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane next summer, as per the transfer insider Dean Jones.

After joining Manchester City from FC Schalke back in 2016, the German enjoyed a stellar time in the Premier League, winning multiple league titles and a few domestic cup competitions.

Following a successful spell in the English top-flight, the 28-year-old opted to return to the Bundesliga and joined the Bavarian club back in 2020.

The forward also enjoyed a successful spell with Bayern Munich over the last few years, winning several league titles. However, with his current contract set to expire at the end of this season, speculation surrounding his future has started to emerge.

On GiveMeSport, Jones has reported that Bayern Munich are willing to keep hold of Sane by offering him a new deal but they want him to take a pay cut as following Michael Olise’s arrival, the former Man City man isn’t the sole owner of the Bavarian club’s right-wing position.

Sane to Arsenal

So, this has given hope for his potential suitors to sign him for free next summer as he may not accept to prolong his stay at the Allianz Arena.

Arsenal have registered their interest in signing him and could make a concrete approach to secure his signature next year. The Gunners were willing to purchase the winger this summer but Bayern Munich eventually didn’t opt to let him leave.

The report says Newcastle United have also expressed their interest in Sane so it won’t be easy for Arsenal to get any potential deal done for him next year.

Arsenal opted to strengthen the flanks by signing Raheem Sterling this summer but he is seen as a short-term solution. Mikel Arteta has reportedly been keen on signing a new right-winger to support Bukayo Saka as the Emirates club have been linked with numerous forwards in recent years.

Sane, valued at around £59m by Transfermarkt, is a top-class player and has already showcased his qualities at the highest level over the last few years. So he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal if they eventually manage to hire him for free next summer.
