Arsenal eye swoop to sign Leroy Sane in bargain deal

By on September 16, 2024

Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a swoop to sign Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane next year, as per Football Insider.

The Gunners have been looking to reinforce the right-wing position to support Bukayo Saka over the last few years. They were previously linked with Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Nico Williams but Mikel Arteta eventually opted to sign Raheem Sterling from Chelsea on loan very late on deadline day this summer.

However, it has been suggested that the 30-year-old has been hired as a stopgap solution so it seems Arsenal are now exploring the market to sign a new right-wing.

Football Insider states that the North London club are interested in Sane and have been closely monitoring his situation before making a potential swoop in 2025.

The player has entered the final year of his current contract and hasn’t signed a renewal yet. Bayern Munich are looking to keep hold of him and have already opened talks with him regarding a new deal.

But, they are planning to tie him down by offering him a lower salary package than he is currently on at the club. So, there is a possibility that the talks may break down without reaching a fruitful conclusion.

Therefore, if that were to happen, Arsenal can manage to secure his signature in a pre-contract agreement in January if they opt to formalise their interest in him.

However, the report says Newcastle United and Liverpool are also keeping a close eye on Sane’s situation, therefore it won’t be easy for the Emirates club to sign Sane next year.

The forward is a highly talented player and has already showcased his qualities at the highest level during his time with Bayern Munich and Manchester City over the last few years.

He, valued at around £59m by Transfermarkt, is a versatile winger as he is a right-winger by traits but is also comfortable on the opposite side. So, signing a player of his qualities for free would be a great business for Arsenal if they hire him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to secure his signature if he eventually leaves the Allianz Arena next summer.
