Arsenal are reportedly planning to sign LOSC Lille star Jonathan David next year, as per Caught Offside.

The Gunners were said to be keen on strengthening the number nine department this summer and were linked with numerous names but they eventually opted not to go for anyone before the deadline.

Now, Caught Offside states that RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko is Arsenal’s priority target to reinforce the attack but they have alternative options on their wish-list as well in-case they fail to secure the Slovenian’s signature.

David is one of them and Mikel Arteta’s side are keeping a close eye on his current situation before making a potential swoop next year. The Canadian has entered the final year of his current deal and isn’t close to signing an extension yet.

So, Arsenal are aiming to hire him by taking advantage of his current situation and they can manage to agree on pre-contract agreements with him in January. But the report says AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus are also in this race therefore, it won’t be straightforward for Arteta’s side to get the deal done.

David to Arsenal

The 24-year-old, valued at around £42m by Transfermarkt, has showcased his goal-scoring prowess during his time with Les Dogues over the last few years, scoring 87 goals and registering 20 assists in 191 appearances in all competitions.

Therefore, David could be a shrewd bargain acquisition for Arsenal if they secure his signature for free next year. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign him should he eventually leave Lille as a free agent in 2025.

Meanwhile, Arsenal managed to come away victorious in the North London derby despite the major absence of key players like Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice.

Following this result, the Emirates club are currently second in the league with 10 points from four games and they will now face off against Manchester City in the Premier League next weekend.

They can manage to secure their place at the top of the table with a victory in this game. However, before that, they will take on Atalanta in the Champions League on Thursday.
