Arsenal plot audacious swoop to sign Jamal Musiala
Arsenal are reportedly planning to make an audacious swoop to sign Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala, as per Football Insider.
The Gunners currently have Martin Odegaard as the only option to deploy in the attacking midfield position. Fabio Vieira was signed to deputise the Norwegian but the Portuguese couldn’t manage to flourish his career in the Premier League.
So, he has now been sent back on a loan deal to FC Porto to play regularly and develop his career. But, he has been out injured and hasn’t been able to play his first game for the club yet.
It is apparent that Vieira he isn’t going to be able to push the Norwegian for the first-team squad. Therefore, it would be the right decision to sign someone – who would be able to provide proper competition for Odegaard.
Now, Football Insider states that Arsenal have registered their interest in signing Musiala and are currently keeping a close eye on his current situation at Bayern Munich.
Musiala to Arsenal
The player has entered the final two-year of his current contract but the Bavarian club’s director Max Ebrel has admitted that it wouldn’t be easy to tie the midfielder down to a new long-term contract, although they want to do that soon.
So, this is a huge encouragement for the North London club to get any potential deal done for him in 2025. However, the report says Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid are also in this race so Arsenal will have to overcome stiff competition to broker this deal.
Along with playing in the attacking midfield position, Musiala can also be deployed on the left flank. So, considering Gabriel Martinelli has found it difficult to showcase his productivity in front of the goal this season, adding a quality player like the German would be the right decision.
Raheem Sterling joined Arsenal on a loan deal this summer but he is seen as a short-term solution and is likely to return to Chelsea at the end of this campaign.
Musiala, valued at around £109m by Transfermarkt, is one of the top young attackers in the world at the moment and if Arsenal can eventually manage to secure his signature then that would be a statement acquisition.
