Arsenal could be handed opportunity to sign Rodrygo
Arsenal could be handed an opportunity to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes, as per Football Transfers.
After taking over the managerial role at the Emirates Stadium back in 2019, Mikel Arteta has managed to build a squad that can challenge for the Premier League title.
The talismanic figure in the Gunners’ starting eleven is William Saliba and it was clear how important the Frenchman is for Arteta’s side as they mounted a title charge in the 2022/23 season but following the 23-year-old’s injury absence, they fell apart and eventually pipped to the post by Manchester City.
Now, Football Transfers states that Real Madrid have started showing genuine interest in signing Saliba after being impressed by his performances in the English top-flight in recent times.
Los Blancos are looking to sign a new defender next year having missed out on purchasing Leny Yoro to Manchester United this summer.
Rodrygo to Arsenal
The report says Real Madrid are even ready to offer Rodrygo in a part-exchange deal to persuade the North London club to cash-in on Saliba but Arteta’s side have no intention of letting him leave and are preparing to offer a new deal to him.
Rodrygo is a top-class player and is one of the best attackers in La Liga. He has already won multiple La Liga titles and a couple of Champions League trophies at the Santiago Bernabéu. Moreover, he has been Brazil national team’s key player in recent times.
The South American, valued at around £92m by Transfermarkt, has started the new season promisingly as he has already scored twice and registered as many assists in six starts in all competitions.
So, signing a player of his qualities would certainly strengthen the North London club’s frontline but it makes no sense to secure the Brazilian’s signature at the expense of one of the best centre-backs in the world.
Real Madrid generally manage to get their targets when they badly want someone. Therefore, Arsenal will have to be careful and do their level best to keep hold of Saliba.
Meanwhile, following a 2-2 draw against Manchester City in the Premier League, Arsenal will face off against Bolton Wanderers in the EFL Cup in midweek before taking on Leicester City in the Premier League next weekend.
