Arsenal predicted line-up against Paris Saint-Germain

By on October 1, 2024

After failing to beat Manchester City courtesy of a late equaliser from John Stones, Arsenal faced off against Leicester City in the Premier League last weekend.

It was thought that the Gunners would be able to win the game comfortably and they started the encounter promisingly as they went 2-0 ahead at the interval.

But, James Justin’s two second-half goals made Arsenal’s job difficult. However, they eventually managed to come away with all three points thanks to two late goals and they ended up winning the game 4-2.

Now, Arsenal will have to shift their focus to the Champions League as they will host Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates Stadium tonight.

Mikel Arteta’s side only managed to draw in the first game of this competition against Atalanta. Therefore, they will be desperate to earn all three points from this fixture.

Team news

Martin Odegaard and Takehiro Tomiyasu remain sidelined owing to their respective problems. Mikel Merino has been out with a shoulder issue over the last few weeks and although he has returned to full training, the Spaniard is unlikely to feature in this fixture.

Ben White wasn’t in the matchday squad last time out due to a minor issue but he is expected to be available for tonight’s encounter.

Predicted line-up

Arteta is unlikely to make many changes to his starting eleven from last weekend’s game so David Raya is set to continue between the sticks.

In front of the Spaniard, Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Riccardo Calafiori could be the back four for the hosts. So, White could feature off the bench if needed.

Thomas Partey should be in the holding midfield position and the Ghanaian could be paired up with Declan Rice in the engine room, deploying Leandro Trossard in the number ten role. Therefore, Jorginho would be among the substitutes.

Bukayo Saka is expected to be patrolling on the right flank following an impressive performance last time out, while Gabriel Martinelli could be on the opposite side.

Kai Havertz would be leading the line for the North London club therefore, Gabriel Jesus would have to make do with a place on the bench alongside Raheem Sterling.

Expected Arsenal line-up vs PSG

Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Partey, Rice, Trossard; Martinelli, Havertz, Saka
