Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a swoop to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, as per GiveMeSport.

Signing a new right-winger to support Bukayo Saka is a long-term desire of Mikel Arteta. The Gunners initially tried to purchase Raphinha from Leeds United a few years ago but the player eventually rejected a move to the Emirates Stadium to join Barcelona.

It was reported this summer that Arsenal were exploring options to strengthen the flanks but they didn’t purchase a long-term option, instead, Arteta decided to hire Raheem Sterling on a loan deal very late on deadline day.

However, the Chelsea star is expected to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of this season and it looks like Arsenal are planning to sign a new winger next year to bolster the frontline.

According to the report by GiveMeSport, the North London club are keen on signing Mbeumo and they have been keeping a close eye on his development before making a potential swoop next year.

Mbeumo to Arsenal

Brentford are fearful that they would lose the Cameroonian but they won’t allow him to leave for cheap, although he will enter the final year of his current contract at the end of this season and want around £40m.

However, the report claims that Liverpool and Newcastle United are also keen on purchasing him, therefore, it won’t be easy for the Merseyside club to lure him to Anfield in 2025.

Following Ivan Toney’s move to Saudi Arabia, Mbeumo has become the talismanic figure for Thomas Frank’s side this season. He has enjoyed a stellar start to this season, scoring five goals in six league appearances.

The forward has showcased his qualities in the Premier League over the last few years so he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal to support Saka if they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to secure his signature next year.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will host newly promoted side Southampton next in the Premier League this weekend before the international break. They will be a huge favourite to come away with all three points from this fixture.
