Arsenal planning to step up efforts to sign Benjamin Sesko
Arsenal are reportedly planning to accelerate their efforts to sign RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, as per the Bild journalist Sten Horning.
The Gunners were said to be keen on strengthening their attacking department by signing a new striker this summer. Numerous names were linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium with Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen being among them.
Moreover, Sesko was also mentioned as a serious option but he eventually decided to stay at the German club. In the end, Arsenal didn’t make a concrete approach to sign any striker before the deadline.
Now, speaking on Tutto Juve(via Sport Witness), Horning says that Arsenal remain keen on signing Sesko and are planning to ‘get serious’ to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.
The forward is expected to cost around £63m[€75m] and the North London club are keeping a close eye on his development in recent times.
Sesko to Arsenal
However, the journalist says Manchester United and Manchester City have also expressed their interest in the Slovenian and they are planning to make a move for him next summer. Therefore, Mikel Arteta’s side will have to beat their rivals in this race.
Horning says considering Sesko’s current age profile and high potential, he would fit into any team in the world and is expected to move to the Premier League.
He said:
“Given his age and still extremely high development potential, Šeško would probably help almost every team in Europe. However, I doubt that his path will take him to Italy next summer.”
“In addition to the market value of over €75m, which is probably difficult to reach for an Italian club, the biggest difficulties will come from Premier League clubs that want to get serious next summer. I’m referring to Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal, who are among the teams that continue to monitor him the most.”
The forward has enjoyed a stellar start to this campaign, scoring six goals and registering three assists in eight appearances in all competitions. He is quick, strong, good in the air, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas and is also efficient in finishing off his chances.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club can eventually manage to secure his signature to reinforce the attacking department.
