Arsenal are reportedly ‘keen’ on signing LOSC Lille star Jonathan David, as per Football Insider.

The Gunners were seemingly looking to make a new addition in the centre-forward department this summer as they were linked with a plethora of names. But, they eventually opted not to sign any striker before the deadline, instead, they sold Eddie Nketiah to Crystal Palace late in the window.

Following the Hale End graduate’s departure, the North London club have been left with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as the centre-forward options. Football Insider says that Arsenal are willing to hire a new striker and are keen on luring David to the Emirates Stadium.

The Canadian has entered the final few months of his current contract and is looking likely to leave Les Dogues as a free agent at the end of this season. Therefore, Arsenal would be able to agree on a pre-contract deal with him in January if he doesn’t renew his deal over the coming months.

However, the report says signing the striker won’t be straightforward for Arsenal as AC Milan, Juventus and Inter Milan have also expressed their interest in signing him by taking advantage of his current situation.

Moreover, Manchester United and Newcastle United are also plotting a swoop for him. Tottenham Hotspur previously looked at the Lille star but having recently signed Dominic Solanke, they are unlikely to make a move for a new number nine at the moment.

The 24-year-old has been in fine form in recent times as he has scored five goals in the last three appearances in all competitions. He even scored the winner against Real Madrid in the last Champions League fixture.

David – valued at around £42m by Transfermarkt, is a highly talented player and has showcased his goal-scoring prowess in the French top-flight over the last few years. So, he could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal to add depth in the striker department if they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign him if he leaves Les Dogues next year.

Meanwhile, following a comfortable 2-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League in midweek, Arsenal continue their unbeaten run this season.
