Arsenal considering signing Shakhtar Donetsk star Sudakov
Arsenal are reportedly planning to sign Shakhtar Donetsk star Georgiy Sudakov, as per the Spanish outlet Fichajes.
After joining the Gunners from Real Madrid, Martin Odegaard has been an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s starting eleven in recent years. Moreover, he has established himself as the club captain.
Fabio Vieira was signed a few years ago to deputise the Norwegian but the Portuguese couldn’t find his feet in the Premier League. So, he has now been sent back to FC Porto to play regularly and develop his career.
The recent emergence of Ethan Nwaneri has added depth to Arsenal’s attacking midfield position. However, he is still just 17 and needs time to develop his career. So, it seems the North London club have now started looking at options to bolster the number ten position.
Sudakov to Arsenal
According to the report by Fichajes, Arsenal are looking to maintain their competitiveness in the Premier League so they are willing to reinforce the squad in the upcoming transfer window.
The Gunners have identified Sudakov as a serious option to add depth in the engine room and the Emirates club are ‘leading the way’ to secure his signature with Shakhtar Donetsk open to cashing-in on their star man for around £29m. But, the Ukrainian side have made it clear that they won’t allow their star man to leave before the end of this campaign.
The Spanish outlet states that purchasing the Ukrainian won’t be straightforward for the North London club as Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Manchester City are also lining up a swoop to sign him in 2025.
Sudakov is comfortable with both feet and can play in the attacking midfield position as well as the box-to-box role. He is still just 22 and has already established himself as a key player for his club and country.
Sudakov is a talented player and possesses high potential. It is going to be interesting to see whether Mikel Arteta’s side eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign him next year.
Meanwhile, following the conclusion of this October international break, Arsenal will resume their campaign when they face off against AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League next weekend.
